Welcome

to Shepherd’s Clinic, a unique non-profit organization providing quality, comprehensive health care to Baltimore’s uninsured… helping people who are unable to afford commercial health insurance, yet do not qualify for government assistance.

  • We opened our doors in 1991 to serve the health care needs of Baltimore’s uninsured, a population that too often doesn’t get care except for emergencies. Our mission has never changed.
  • Our patients live within thirteen Baltimore City zip codes (geographically half of the city), their household incomes fall under 200% of poverty, and nearly all are working or live in a household with an employed individual.
  • We are volunteer-driven. More than 350 volunteer physicians, nurses, and others provide our uninsured patients with a full continuum of caring, quality health care, from primary and specialty care to mental health and wellness services. Volunteers receive a very rewarding experience without time and billing pressures.
  • Union Memorial Hospital provides diagnostic, specialty, and surgical services for our patients at no cost.
  • In 2009, we opened the Joy Wellness Center whose programs and therapies are designed specifically to create transformative, healthy, life-affirming changes in the lives of our patients.
  • We are looking for additional patients and volunteers.
  • We receive no government funds. We rely solely on the generous donations of our patients, individual donors, foundations, civic organizations, corporations, and congregations. And yes, that means that we need your help. Please see our DONATE NOW button…and thanks!
