Welcome
to Shepherd’s Clinic, a unique non-profit organization providing quality, integrative health care for an hour’s wage to Baltimore’s uninsured… helping people who are unable to afford commercial health insurance, yet do not qualify for government assistance. Whether you are an uninsured individual struggling with a chronic health problem or a health care provider looking for a wonderful volunteer opportunity, you have come to the right place. Here’s who we are in a nutshell:
- We opened our doors in 1991 to serve the health care needs of Baltimore’s uninsured, a population that just doesn’t get care except for emergencies. Our mission has never changed.
- All of our patients live within thirteen Baltimore City zip codes (geographically half of the city), their household incomes fall under 200% of poverty, and nearly all are working or live in a household with an employed individual.
- We are volunteer-driven. Some 250 volunteer physicians, nurses, and others provide our uninsured patients with a full continuum of quality health care, from primary and specialty care to mental health and wellness services.
- As a longtime partner, nearby Union Memorial Hospital provides free diagnostic, specialty, and surgical services for our patients.
- We receive no government funds, but rely on the generosity of individual donors, foundations, civic organizations, corporations, and congregations. And yes, that means that we need your help. Please see our DONATE NOW button…and thanks!
