Welcome to The Shepherd's Clinic, Inc., a non-profit, inner-city health clinic, that provides health care to individuals who do not have health insurance and are not eligible for government-assisted health care, such as Medicare or Medicaid. The Joy Wellness Center is now open to patients and community members. While patients have always enjoyed a continuity of care usually experienced only by fully insured patients, with the wellness center’s opening, they will now experience truly integrated health care in which mind and body are treated together. It’s about a higher quality of life that’s balanced, not just a cure from disease. From the demonstration kitchen where people can learn the science of healthy cooking practices to the exercise facility where they can improve chronic conditions or relieve stress, the wellness center will be a place to learn new strategies for well-being. Its mission is to promote quality, affordable programs that teach strategies for balancing the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual areas of life.
Patients are seen by appointment only and pay an hour's wage for an office visit. Those who are not unemployed pay nine dollars at the time of the visit. To become a patient, please call (410) 467-7140 Tuesday-Friday to be screened for eligibility.
A group of dedicated, volunteer doctors, nurse practitioners, physician's assistants, and nurses provide patient care. Administrators and other volunteers give added support. To volunteer, please call Marlene Sorra, Volunteer Coordinator (410) 467-7146.
