Important News Re: Fire and Temporary Closure

UPDATE:

We have exciting news! As of Saturday, May 11th, our clinic space has officially re-opened and is fully functioning. And starting  Monday May 13th, the Joy Wellness Center is officially re-opened. This timeline is earlier than we originally anticipated, all thanks to the contractors who have been working tirelessly to get the space ready for us.

We are so happy to be back and fully providing services in our space again in such a short amount of time. Now that we are back, we are working to confirm what the financial toll of the fire was. Our goal is that our annual fundraiser (scheduled for June 28th, cityhealthfuture2019.eventbrite.com) will help us to raise any outstanding dollars to meet our budget for the year. Thank you to everyone who has offered us support!

On 4/11/19, there was an electrical fire at the clinic caused by a dryer. In good news, no one was injured and the building infrastructure is safe. However, due to health risks from smoke contamination, the building is required to close for approximately 30 days. Thank you to our beloved community for your support as we have developed a plan.

The clinic has partnered with Youth Dreamers to set up a temporary headquarters at 1430 Carswell St, Baltimore, MD 21218. Programming will resume as follows:

  • Beginning the evening of Wednesday, April 25th, Joy Wellness Center programs will continue as regularly scheduled at the new location.
  • Beginning Thursday, April 26th, behavioral health programming will continue as regularly scheduled at the new location.
  • Existing medical clinic patients should work directly with staff over the phone to coordinate health concerns and prescription needs. Clinical appointments will resume at 2800 Kirk Avenue in the upcoming weeks.
